Many of you would already know, but for those of you new here - I have a passion for mothers who create and make.
those raising children and raising big visions,
birthing babies and birthing businesses.
Those dancing between mother mystic & mother maker.
Moving with the surges of creative living, the poetry of their own lives.
Mother maker is For
the Artists,
Poets,
Writers,
Movers & Shakers
for the Influencers,
Speakers,
Coachers,
Energy workers,
Community creators
& Home makers,
For the designers
Photographers,
for the Entrepreneurs,
and business owners,
for those who create and make, intuitively,
not as something they do, but because it's who they are, alongside motherhood.
I have a slow podcast called “Mother Maker” which has 12 episodes of season 01 available. These are a mix of solo episodes and amazing longform interviews with mother creatives.
Slow podcast meaning, I begin a season only when my energy is in it, when it feels right, when I’m inspired and in a creative surge. Yes, I almost begun season two in the weeks before Ren was born BUT I reassessed and decided to birth one thing at a time haha!
I do have some wonderful people lined up for season two however that may still be a few months away at least.
For now, here are some of my favourite episodes from season one. (These can be clicked through and listened to for free on Spotify, Apple podcast or any listening apps.)
WHERE MYSTICISM, BUSINESS & SELF INQUIRY COLLIDE & THRIVE with Brittany Eastman
In this episode we speak on the old way of business & the new way of intuitive lead business & leadership. We speak on social media, creativity, motherhood and how to create a sovereign relationship with them all rather than co-dependant relating.
We speak on marketing, sales, cultivating community/ courses and programs as a creative expression, business energetics and so much more.
DAY DESIGN & CHAIN BREAKING with TARA BLISS
If you want to dive into a beautiful story of a woman who began with a blog, moved into a successful network marketing career, spoke to thousands of women, traveled the world, became a mother, has a successful coaching business and has moved her work into a beautiful ceremonial style of offerings... who's done it through intuition, and moving with the whispers of her life, this is for you.
We also chat DAY DESIGN and aligning your week with planet energetics to get the most out of your time as a mother, finding freedom in the structure & redefining what thriving motherhood can also feel like when we welcome support so that we can show up for our creations.
SEX MAGIC, RITUAL & LIVING IN POSSIBILITY with Abby Branson
Abby is a Kundalini yoga & tantra teacher and mother to her small daughter Sitara.
Abby's story morphed from being a high achieving business woman in the space of the tantric arts, and spirituality community, to being in a very slow and intentional season of pregnancy and motherhood with her little girl. It's beautiful to hear how Abby held respect for each season of her life and she shares tools on how to surrender fully to where you are at in your current life while still holding a big beautiful nourishing vision for the future.
She speaks on using Sex magic to infuse life with more joy and ease and to call forward experiences. She speaks of practical daily rituals to bring in more magic and intention to your life as a mother (Especially when you may not have hours to meditate)
I love speaking to Abby as she has always held a point of possibility and expansion and reflects that to her community around her.
MOTHER MAKER ROUND UP
I also wanted to share with you some of the mother makers I’m feeling inspired by at the moment and what they are creating. I intend to publish these regularly, with different creatives featured each time.
I’m not affiliated with any of these celebrations and recommendations unless otherwise stated.
Firstly, my beautiful friend
(who has just began her substack.)I’ve known Edde for years, and she is a MASTER of her CRAFT and has also had a huge journey coming BACK to her art after a challenging and big first couple of years as a parent to her little light beam of a son.
Edde makes music, but not the normal kind of music. She makes music FOR mothers. Her songs were on repeat on my birth playlist only two-ish weeks ago.
She channels the most incredible songs, writes all the lyrics herself (and is very talented with both the writing process, and the creation), All of the backing music is also created by her - With her MOUTH and looper, no instruments.
Most of her art is created as a way to process and feel.
I love it all, but what I’m specifically excited about is her launch of her custom songs for children/ mothers.
I have heard her channel the most STUNNING custom (I prefer he term homemade) songs for kids, specific to the family, child or mother. These songs have brought me to tears MANY times and sent shivers up my spine.
Pre-parenthood, Edde would do these custom songs as a boutique, luxury product and had a huge waitlist. She hasn’t had her books open for this in over two years, and now that she’s launching this offering again, I’m FIRST on her list hehe (Friend Perks).
She’s offering these songs at almost half of the price of what she used to, and BELIEVE ME when I tell you these songs are the most incredible, heart felt, soulful and wholesome gift to give yourself, your children or a friend.
Connect with
on substack to have previews and hear the story behind this offering and how you can get involved/ support her work and buy this for yourself/ someone you love. She’ll be offering a 7 day free trial with her launch to hear song’s and music exclusive for her paid community here, with access to being able to order your own. She will likely only have space for 3-4 per month. It’s such a joy to be connected to this sort of art on substack.
Don’t walk, Run
Next up, another amazing friend of mine,
which, btw is well worth the paid subscription on substack.I met Erica when we were 18, not long before she began her first Blog - Essence of Erica. I fast learned her writing style was not only wildly entertaining and charismatic to read, but equally as passionate and educational.
Her blog was a success, though as social media took over and Instagram became a thing, her words morphed into stunning poetry, erotic writing & feminist explorations, rather than her longform blog style shares. (So essentially this is her comeback, 10 years later with longform creation on substack wooO!)
She became known for her poetry journeys and then she plot-twisted and published a story (not poetry) book called Women of the Womb, (which is currently not avail as it’s being reproduced) but was also incredible to read.
Erica has a gift of being able to truly tap into the essence of a person and express it through words. My favourite being waking up on my birthday to a huge paragraph text of her poetry about me …*Brb just weeping again*
Since we were 18, she’s morphed on a huge self journey of sexuality, feminism, study, history, and more.
Her artist bio:
“Hey, I'm Erica Perry, the heart and soul driving "Heartistry." My passion for art as a love language blazes like a thousand sunsets. You couldn’t pay me to stop when it comes to creating for the world. I love to infuse my art with quirk, colour, and the magic of turning everyday moments into poetic treasures. In a world that's always on the move, I slow down, I have to, in order to capture the essence of existence; in order to make life romantic again. For me, art isn't just about creation; it's about the enchantment that reminds us of who we are and how deeply we feel. I dream of a world where art is as vital as the air we breathe, where every creation is a whisper that we're all moving masterpieces. When I pour my heart into each piece, I'm inviting you to see yourself as the most breathtaking artwork imaginable. So let my heartistry welcome you into a universe where love, empathy, and art harmonize, crafting a masterpiece that's called life. Consuming art is supposed to be a taste of divinity - it's a sip of the finest wine for your soul. So let it consume you. Let it decorate your walls and your art and your homes. Let it become a part of you, just as it was crafted from you.
Find heart again.”
She offers many beautiful creations, but the specific ones I want to share with you are her Elemental kids poetry prints/ wall hangings. These are designed to be gifted to your children or children in your life based on their “sign” and if they are a fire, earth, air or water baby.
She also offers stunning custom poetry that can be printed and gifted to self or another.
Here is one she made for me, which had me in tears to be seen in this way.
Have you ever seen the way that fire and ice collide.
The way that the flames turn cool, and their touch goes from being like the leather lick of the underworld to the soft, innocent lips of lover you first let your heart collide with.
Of course you haven’t, you couldn’t have, not before seeing the way that she descended from the skies, her skin embedded with the star dust that she uses to create the path of the new way.
You couldn’t have known, that the raging bush fires and the trickle of the stream could make love in a way that makes homes out of caves and paints the stories of the ones who moved before us on the walls.
There was no way, to know that before she connected her feet with the earth and begin to move her hips with the music of the breeze that she would create a ripple into the cosmos that birthed through the way of the divine mother.
There was no way for us to prepare for the sound of her breath as she laboured and merged the oneness of a cataclysmic storm and the kaleidoscope of existence into one single moment of rebirth that stretched out into eternity.
There was no way, to know that the simple beating of her ever expanding heart would change the way that we all lived.
There was no way to know, no way to prepare, no way to think or be or move in order to be ready to dance with her as she created.
And thank god, because to trying to figure her out would take lifetimes and even then,
she would have rebirthed herself so many times that nothing you concluded would stand true. Thank god, we couldn’t prepare, because then we couldn’t surrender to the beauty of it.
-Erica Perry

Lastly for today,
She’s a mama who lives on the Northumberland coast, a slow and intentional living advocate and ALSO a creative who writes 3 different publications here on Substack.
Also known as the queen of substack due to her passion here and what she generously offers the community.
Her publications include:
Which is full of conversations and tips for growing your substack in a way that aligns with values. This includes the opportunities to attend co-working sessions, and video tutorials/ and interviews to help you grow substack if you’re a writer here. Her publication around creativity - directed towards the self employed & the creatively curious. Filled with journal prompts, short stories, and more. is her collaboration with which is a community building where the discussions, guest posts AND podcast (and more) revolve around motherhood & business. What I love about Clair though is how welcoming she is to everyone. She’s someone I admire here in the space as I’ve felt both connected, and welcomed by Claire.
I learn a lot from the notes she shares, and even yesterday I was watching an interview she hosted about growing substack through pinterest as a primary search engine and I loved it. I feel inspired and hopeful as a paid subscriber of Claires and I hope through this recommendation any of you who are considering this platform as a creative home, can thrive more.
I personally plan to work 1:1 with Claire in the hopes of expanding my presence on substack as a writer and using this next year to really put my attention and focus here.
I’d love to get Claire on a community call for you all sometime soon perhaps … we shall see
Here are some of the Substack Publications that I have so loved reading over the last few weeks,
In her article, “Coming home to myself” where she writes about her journey through love, heartbreak, travel and choosing to become a mother “Later in life”. honestly, everything this woman writes. I LOVED her series “Home - Figtree lane” part 1, 2 and 3. They all had me captivated and immersed in the story. Her latest article - I’m putting “flirt” on the top of my list, was also a great read for me this week. and her article, “the grief of getting what you want” (and walking blind, into a new season of life. The way she has with words is beautiful. and her first article “what’s the point” - around becoming a creative writer and trusting the journey into self expression. Her spoken word performances are also stunning. If you’re playing catch up,
I published a spoken word poem for my littlest love, Ren, with pictures and words alomgside.
"Hourglass" Listen and read here
And in a recent unpacking, I explore Why we reject the village (we say we want)
which has received a great response, so it must be #relatablecontent
That’s all for today friends!
I hope to make my “Mother Maker Round up” a more common occurrence, as I have SO many incredible mothers and women I want to celebrate.
Lots of love, Kat
